This one is a dismal 1 itsy, bitsy, little, lackluster star out of 5. Journey to atlantis series#In fact, the next (and last) book in the series is already better by default, and I haven't even read it yet. I cannot recommend this book, even as a sentimental journey into my past. By the stories end, so much had happened that I pretty much just threw up my hands and laughed off my frustration. For example: A large, double-bladed axe made out of solid gold that is apparently as light as a feather - as well as a tiny island that is initially described as being devoid of any life including vegetation suddenly being lush with trees, foliage, and bright flowers, just to name a couple of things. It is disjointed, stilted, there is no semblance of reasonable logic, and the dialogue is just awful! It was so bad, that I doubt that anyone above the age of 10 would find anything in there to be credible. This book was so terribly written, that I actually laughed out loud through most of it. Things get rather dicey as double-crosses turn into triple-crosses, and pretty soon, our heroes don't know who to trust as they desperately try to escape the island with their very lives. Money, and not to mention all of the uninvited guests that crash the party. Along for the ride is archaeologist, Diana Briggs, as well as the dig's benefactor, Midas, who Diana affectionately refers to as Mr. Well, we all know how that turns out! Before long, they are on their way to an archaeological dig on a nearby island rumored to be the last resting place of the famed Atlantis treasure - long sought, but never found.
